To: Concerned authorities in many countries
From: The International Skogsmulle Symposium at Lida, Sweden 2002
The symposium gathered 120 persons from seven countries during three days.
Russia, Latvia, Germany, Finland, Norway, Japan and Sweden sent delegations to the symposium.
The purpose of the symposium was to exchange experiences and to create a common platform
for the development of the ideas behind Skogsmulle and our activities.
The hosts of the symposium were Friluftsfrämjandet in Sweden, Foundation I Ur och Skur
and Gösta Frohm's Skogsmulle Foundation.
Skogsmulle is activities for children in the preschool age (5-7 years). These activities
are mostly carried on outdoors. The aim of Skogsmulle is that the children get an opportunity
to experience nature with all of their senses and in that way learn about all living and
growing things.
The Skogsmulle figure is used with the pedagogical aim of creating games and stories in
these activities. Skogsmulle is a symbol for nature protection.
The figure Skogsmulle is patent protected by Friluftsfrämjandet in Sweden and they are
the guardians of these activities in the other countries.
Our common vision is to, with the help of Skogsmulle, give coming generations knowledge
of the environment and a life style that will promote sustainable development. Our intentions
build on the UN Convention of Children's Rights and the Convention on Sustainable Development.
Especially paragraph 28 and 29 in Children's Rights Convention and chapter 26a in Agenda 21.
In Skogsmulle school children receive knowledge, values and attitudes that are valuable
for the future of our world in a sustainable perspective. Therefore we challenge all peoples
of good intent in organizations, authorities, communities and government to cooperate to
support out vision. We want all children throughout the world to meet Skogsmulle. Skogsmulle
is an important movement that creates understanding of how our world can develop to an
ecologically sustainable place to live.
